Dr. Heather Ford
I am honoured to become a part of the prestigious Hibberd Orthodontics team.
I am a fully-trained Orthodontic Specialist, with a Master’s degree in Orthodontics and a Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. I attended McMaster University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Biochemistry (Molecular Biology specialization). I subsequently went on to complete a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Toronto. I graduated from dental school ranked first in my class and was selected by the Dean to be awarded the esteemed Dean’s Gold medal, the highest achievement in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program. At this time I also received multiple awards in Orthodontics and Pediatric dentistry, which showcased my love and aptitude for Orthodontics and dentistry for children. I then worked as a general Dentist in the GTA, but my passion for orthodontics brought me back to the University of Toronto to pursue an additional three-year specialist’s degree, receiving the esteemed Masters of Science in Orthodontics and a Fellowship with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. In 2014, I also authored a research paper on orthodontic tooth movement that was published in the ‘Archives of Oral Biology’ Scientific Journal.
I am committed to continuing my education through participation in many professional associations, including the:
- Ontario Association of Orthodontists;
- Canadian Association of Orthodontists;
- American Association of Orthodontists;
- Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honours Society;
- University of Toronto Orthodontic Alumni Association;
- Royal College of Dentists of Canada
Like the Hibberd family, my family is extremely important to me. I have a wonderful husband (Rob), and three beautiful children (Charlotte, Will and Aubrey), who certainly keep us busy! I love spending time with my immediate and extended family.
Based in Mississauga, Ontario, I am also a retired member of Team Canada Synchronized Figure, Skating team, having competed as a competitive synchronized figure skater nationally and internationally. I also enjoy hiking, swimming, and vacationing with my family.
I truly enjoy working in the dental profession as well as all aspects of Orthodontics, especially getting to know patients and their families. I am committed to helping all patients achieve beautiful and healthy smiles at any age.
