Meet Dr. Tae Kwon

Dr. Tae (Tae Wook) Kwon was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to Canada when he was 15 years old.  In 2006, his family moved to Oakville and he began his undergraduate education at Western University studying biology. After three years in general biology, he was accepted to the dentistry program at the University of Toronto. At U of T, he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honours in 2014. He continued to pursue his studies and enrolled in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester, New York. Following this Dr. Kwon returned to Canada and started his career working as a general dentist in Hamilton and Stoney Creek.

After six years of working as a general dentist he pursued his orthodontic specialty training, obtaining a Master of Clinical Dentistry at Western University.  At Western in his orthodontic program he was the recipient of Smith Award n Graduate Orthodontics, awarded to the best all-round contributor to the program through a combination of extra-curricular activities, clinical work and the ability to relate to patients and peers.

Aside from his passion for all things orthodontics, Dr. Kwon is happily married to his wife, Bo and has two beautiful children, Leo and Lucy. He enjoys traveling and hiking with his family. He comes from a family of dentists with his brother being a periodontist and sister-in-law a general dentist. Dr. Kwon feels extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of the team at Hibberd Orthodontics and help provide beautiful, healthy smiles to all the patients in the clinic.
